The first Immaculate Conception Church in Nashua was established by the Diocese of Maine / New Hampshire in the late 1850’s. The church was built on Temple Street and dedicated in 1857. In 1909, a new larger church on Spring Street was dedicated as St. Patrick’s and Immaculate Conception Church was transferred to the Nashua Lithuanian community which renamed it St. Casimir. There was no longer an Immaculate Conception Parish in Nashua until 1968. In an interesting though bittersweet turn of events, St. Casimir Church merged with St. Patrick’s in 2002 when St. Casimir’s was decommissioned. For the following years, the geographical area of our current parish was part of St. Patrick Parish.
In 1966, construction of a “mission church” for St. Patrick’s was begun on our current site. On October 4, 1968, Bishop Ernest Primeau dedicated our parish under the patronage of the Immaculate Conception. On October 13, 2001, ground was broken for our current church. Construction was completed in the fall of 2002. On October 19th, 2002, Bishop John McCormack dedicated the new church in which we worship today. In his letter celebrating the dedication, Bishop McCormack wrote “Though many will surely marvel at the beauty of your new church, it is simply the exterior manifestation of what is truly important – the living, faith-filled community that worships and serves together.”
