Immaculate Conception currently offers 9th and 10th grade level comprehensive faith formation for public high school students. Over the next 2 years, we will expand this program to include all 4 years of high school; comparable to formation received by students who attend Catholic Schools. High School students are expected to have received continuous religious formation up to this point. Typically, teens attend a night of formation on consecutive Sundays from 5:00 to 7:30pm, and on occasion may also attend a Saturday educational day (specific dates TBD).
ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS OF HIGH SCHOOL FAITH FORMATION
Regular attendance at Mass on Sunday and Holy Days is expected. In addition, we are called by Christ to live as missionary disciples. These essential components will give our high school students many opportunities to experience true discipleship, mature in their faith and build moral character. Catholic School students are welcomed and encouraged to participate in these offerings. They include,
2. MISSION/SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES: All teens enrolled in our High School formation program will participate in at least one individual or group-based mission/service project per year. Participation is not measured by hours completed, but rather, by the level of commitment given and benefit to the community. The goal is to help teens gain a practical understanding of what it means to be a true disciple of Christ. Teens will also have an opportunity to do a spiritual reflection on mission/service rendered and lifelong discipleship. All Mission/Service should fit into what we call Corporal & Spiritual Works of Mercy.3. ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES – All high school teens enrolled are expected to participate in 2 to 3 enrichment opportunities per year which are available through our Plugged-In Youth Ministry's ENCOUNTER program and other parish offerings.
